How to fix a leaking garden hose
If a new hose end washer and thread sealant do not do the trick, it may be time to replace the hose end fitting. Use a carton knife to slice the old hose end off the garden hose, making sure the cut is as straight as possible.Take the old end to your local hardware store and purchase a replacement barbed-end hose fitting. These come in various styles and sizes. Choose one that is right for your specific application. Hard plastic fittings hold up surprisingly well in lawn and garden applications, but the heavier metal ones are a better choice for farm, ranch and construction applications where hoses are more likely to get thrown about or stepped on.
Leave the hose in the hot sun long enough for it to heat up and become supple or lubricate the cut end of the hose with a small amount of liquid dish soap. Slip the hose clamp onto the hose end and push the barbed portion of the fitting securely into the hose.Tighten the hose clamp and test the new end for leaks.Hoses that are leaking somewhere beside the hose end fitting can also be repaired using plastic or metal-barbed hose repair clamps. Let's be careful out there
You can't always count on traffic control at fire scenes, either. Fire crews get there and get to work, so drivers need to be thinking: don't drive over hoses, don't drive between engines and fires, don't drive amongst crew members and equipment. Slow down and go around, or carefully stop and turn around.A man is being held without bond after he was found showering naked with a hose next to a girls locker room at Key West High School.Three girls attending an overnight band camp at the school walked by Paiboon Sunthroncharti, 33, sometime after midnight on Saturday, Key West Police said.
Band director Gary Hernandez told police that the girls were walking next to the girls locker room and saw a man'pletely naked, washing off with a garden hose, officials said. Hernandez said both the girls and boys locker room doors were propped open, but no one was found inside,fuel hose according to authorities.Police finally found Shunthroncharti laying on the track field after a search, and the officer recognized him as a man who had been on school grounds earlier in the evening, according to an arrest report."I came in through the hockey rink and there are no signs saying I can't be here," Sunthroncharti said, according to the report.
He told the officer he entered the school through a double gate next to the softball field, the report said.He then denied using the hose to take a shower, but said he had seen "two short Mexicans" leaving the school property,chemical hose police said. Covidien launches new catheter for treatment of Barrett's esophagus
Covidien PLC, a provider of healthcare products, has launched a new catheter for the treatment of Barrett's esophagus and other specific gastrointestinal bleeding disorders in the United States and Europe.The Dublin-based'pany, with U.S. headquarters in Mansfield, Mass., on Tuesday launched the Barrx Channel RFA Endoscopic Catheter. When Barretts esophagus, a precancerous condition of the esophageal lining that is a'plication of gastroesophogeal reflux disease, is left untreated, it can lead to cancer of the esophagus.
According to Covidien, its Barrx line of catheters is based on technology that controls the amount of RF radio frequency energy delivered during a procedure to remove diseased tissue, leaving the healthy tissue untouched. By using the catheter, doctors can shorten the time of procedures because the new design allows for few endoscope introductions and removals, according to Covidien."Covidien continues to offer patients and physicians a solution to address Barrett's esophagus," said Vafa Jamali, vice president and general manager of GI Solutions at Covidien. "The newest addition to the Barrx portfolio is designed to simplify the procedure by delivering our proven RF technology through the working channel of the endoscope.

Its head coach is Harold Nichols, a 1990 graduate of Presbyterian, who holds a record of 8-25 in three years. The Blue Hose lost its last six games of the year by a'bined score of 266-74 an average of 44-12.
Although last year was not a good year at all, there are a few reasons for Blue Hose fan to feel a little better about the u'ing season. The primary reason is they the coaching staff added former PC head coach Tommy Spangler as its new defensive coordinator. Spangler spent the past six years as the defensive coordinator at Louisiana Tech, where he turned around a woeful LT defense into one of the best in the WAC. He formerly served as the HC of Presbyterian from 2001-2006, where he led the Blue Hose to 42-24 57% the best in school history.
That is a fantastic hire by PC, as Spangler was a nominee for the 2011 Broyles Award given annually to the best coordinator in the FBS. He should get the Blue Hose defense playing much better as the year goes on and will likely bolster the entire play of the team.Presbyterian also returns a lot of starters from last year's squad who have been around the block a couple of times. Although one might question whether a lot of returners from a 2-9 team is a good thing, I believe that it is in this case, especially in the areas that PC returns them.

Garden hose or fire hose?

The hose had a tendency to kink and cut off the water flow at inopportune times.The main purpose of the hose was to wash the wood steps at the front of our home, the concrete sidewalk and the paved area in the backyard. That meant snaking the hose down the alley way between our house and the one next to it to get to the front of the house. I don't believe we ever "Grain Oil Hose" what little grass was in the backyard. If we attempted to grow any plants back there, we used a galvanized pail, watering can, or an unused coal scuttle to carry the water back to the plants.
