Trelleborg purchases hose technology By Mike McNulty

The new transfer hose system, expected to be completed and qualified in 2014, will be used to extract floating liquid natural gas in more demanding environments, according to Mikael Fryklund, president of Trelleborg Industrial Solutions.Production of the hose system will take place at the company's Clermont-Ferrand, France, plant, a Trelleborg spokeswoman said. Saipem and Trelleborg have been working on an offloading system since 2009, she said, using floating cryogenic flexible hoses to transfer gases as liquid natural gas Grain oil hoses suppliers or liquid petroleum gas in open seas.

Floating liquefied natural gas is a cost-effective, flexible way for commercializing new gas discoveries in deep water locations, the company said. Currently, it said, there are few qualified systems available for offloading floating liquefied natural gas."For some time now, Trelleborg has held a leading global position within oil hose systems for offshore offloading," Fryklund said. With the technology acquired from SBM, "we will strengthen our total offering within offloading oil and gas."

Meanwhile, he said SBM will continue to be a strategic partner to Trelleborg in the development of technologies. In the 2000s, the Tank truck hoses suppliers jointly developed Trelline technology for oil offloading line transfer systems, according to the spokes- woman.Historically, liquid natural gas off-loading has been conducted solely at fixed locations connected to land, Fryklund said, but that is changing because the technology is being developed to take advantage of offshore offloading of floating natural gas."This shift creates new technological challenges requiring a more flexible offloading system that enables the extraction of liquid natural gas in more demanding environments, without extended downtime and with a significantly reduced risk," he said.

Blown Water Hose Soaks Pa. Fire Station

Firefighters removed impacted items, including file cabinets and computers containing various records, a wall-mounted wide-screen TV and a copier with water still sitting in it as of Tuesday, from the flooded areas and then mopped up water."The damaged computers affect us,Accessories suppliers because we do online training and other things on them," Gannon said. Also damaged were an Instalert radio, predecessor to the modern emergency responder alert system, and shirts in one of the closets adjoining the lower-level meeting room.

Destroyed ceiling tiles and furniture were tossed into a trash bin outside, while possibly salvageable items were placed along the rear and one side of the fire truck bay. The fire company then contacted Paul Davis Emergency Services of Monroe County, a damage cleanup business that provided heavy-duty fans to blow out moisture and dehumidifiers to prevent mold buildup. An insurance adjuster has since visited the firehouse and will contact the fire company at some point with an estimated cost of damages.

"We're guessing it's in the thousands," Gannon said. "We're hoping our insurance company can cover all of it and we can get the damaged items replaced. Meanwhile, we're gonna keep doing what we've always done, which is serve our community."Gives the community and neighboring fire companies a chance to see Jackson Township's recently purchased $880,000 fire engine, pvc suction hose pipe a 38-foot-long 2013 KME Kovatch Predator, seating up to six in the cab and equipped with a water pumper, deck water gun and the Jaws of Life. Paladins start anew against Blue Hose

"Our defense played great," said Griffin, who completed 15 of 18 passes for 135 yards. "We came out and played a good first half. But we had too many turnovers. That was the real difference in the game."Presbyterian hasn't beaten Furman since 1979, but the school has been chipping away at Furman's dominance in the last couple of years. The Blue Hose lost by 10 points in 2012 in Clinton, coming back from a 24-0 deficit at halftime. On Saturday, they matched the Paladins with 59 plays but compiled 96 more yards total offense. The Blue Hose also had possession roughly five minutes longer than the Paladins.

"We expected them to play hard. Everybody was fired up," Furman running back Hank McCloud said. "They had a big win last week, and we wanted to get our first win at home."While the Furman football team is off to a slow start this season, this week's home opener remains one of the most highly anticipated in the 32-year history of Paladin Stadium. When the Paladins and Presbyterian kickoff at noon today it will be on the stadium's new synthetic turf surface. Fans on the home stands will enter through Furman's new Pearce Horton Football Complex, and many will be sitting in new seats.

"It's exciting for us to get home and see all that come together this Saturday," Furman coach Bruce Fowler said. "I think it's a great reflection of where we are as a program. We're doing things to get going in the right direction."While the rainy spring and summer hindered construction, Furman athletic director Gary Clark said everything remained on schedule for this season. The only major upgrade left is the press box level, which should be ready by the Paladins' next home game, Oct. 5 against Elon."Weather did slow things down. There's no way around that with that kind of rain that we had this past summer," said Clark. "Triangle Construction has done a great job of getting us caught up so we could host the game Saturday. They've made a lot of progress in the last three weeks."

Susquehanna Hose Company Gives Bride and Groom a Lift

Taylor and Chris Karabaich had just taken their vows at the Concord Point Lighthouse when they were faced with their first big problem as husband and wife. After the Saturday ceremony, the Westminster couple's ride to the reception didn't arrive."Behind on time due to a late ceremony start, we decided to send the bridal party to the reception in the limo and then have it come back for the bride and groom chemical hose," wedding photographer Beth T blogged. "It was the perfect solution, but only IF the limo driver remembered to come back—which he did NOT!!"

Susquehanna Hose Company members noticed the situation from their vantage point at the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum, where they were having a crab feast.Firefighter Sam Cubberley said he and his wife, Sonya, approached the newlyweds, who were on the phone; they declined assistance."We returned to the crab feast but after a few minutes saw the hand expressions of the bride and groom and knew it was time to act," Cubberley said. "I grabbed the driver and we brought Engine 535 around the block to give them a ride."They were happy to see us," Cubberley continued. "As we rounded the corner to the reception, we turned on the lights and siren."

The wedding party was waiting at La Banque de Fleuve on Saint John Street."There was that brief moment of nobody really knowing what happening, and then the doors opened fuel hose," Kimberly Barth, owner of La Banque de Fleuve, said.Rather than Susquehanna Hose Company firefighters, Taylor Karabaich emerged from the engine in her wedding gown. The crowd outside La Banque de Fleuve cheered, including bystanders who weren't part of the wedding, Barth said."I always get a little emotional when I see the bride for the first time because you get to know [them] so it's always special—that first sight, that first look when they come in," Barth said. "But I've got to tell you, that was exceptional."

Milton man douses residential fire with garden hose

Berlanga said a nearby wooden fence rigged with plastic rope was on fire in a backyard, and it appeared to have spread to a raised, balcony-style deck attached to the house on Nelson Avenue. Berlanga said the fire was relatively small, but was starting to take off. "I said, 'Damn, this looks like it's going to keep spreading,'" he said.Berlanga said he ran to the front of the house and started knocking on the door to warn anybody inside, but nobody came to the door.Berlanga searched frantically for a garden hose. Before a police officer arrived, Berlanga found a hose tucked in some bushes. He said someone had left the outside faucet turned on, so all he had to do was start spraying the deck.

"I just started spraying it and put the fire out," he said. "The Milton cop who came took over after that and took care of the rest of it. I just told him, 'Cool. Your turn."When the fire department arrived, a teenage male came out of the house. Berlanga said he thought the teen had been asleep the whole time and the commotion had awakened him.The teen was unharmed, police said.A Milton Fire Department official said the department still was looking into the fire Friday and had not determined a definite cause or a damage estimate.Milton police hailed Berlanga's quick actions, saying he went a beyond the normal call for a citizen reporting a fire.

"His quick thinking and actions are well above what is expected in such a situation and deserve our community's thanks for a job well done," Layber said in a written statement.Layber said Berlanga's actions might well have averted a more fully involved house fire. "The officer told me it was cool that I helped out," Berlanga said. "Because, you know, most people don't do that. They don't get involved."Berlanga said that, as a kid, he wanted to be a police officer or fireman. He said it was "cool" handling a de-facto public safety detail for one afternoon, but that he plans to stick with what he does best—his day job as an apparel salesman.

Duct work to be removed from Mechanics Hall

Friends of Mechanics Hall member Alex Fiandaca said her group will also hold a bake sale and offer guided tours of the building on the day of the yard sale. The Friends of the Princeton Fire Department will sell refreshments, she said.Fiandaca said that building inspector John Wilson had no problem with the Friends group removing the duct work in the basement of the building."A professional looked at the duct work and said it could never again be used in that capacity," said Mark Fiandaca. "The only thing it's doing is pulling in moisture from the outside China Chemical hoses suppliers," he said. "We want to remove the duct work and dry out the basement." The basement has a dirt floor.

Members of the Friends cleaned all the debris in the basement the previous weekend. The duct work will be taken to the highway department for scrap metal, Fiandaca said.Expert recommendations vary on this subject, but most experts agree that you will benefit from duct cleaning every three to five years. A cleaning may be in order if you have smokers in the household, pets with high amounts of hair and dander, notice excessive dust, water contamination or damage, after home renovations or remodeling or prior occupancy to a new home. If you want to know what the inside of your vents look like, open up the vent covers and take a picture.

Allowing an unqualified contractor to clean your ducts, though, could be worse than not having them cleaned at all. More particles could be broken up and released into your home or your HVAC system could be damaged.Get written estimates from at least three different companies and check references. Most quality air duct cleaning companies use outdoor vented equipment, so all dust and debris is captured and contained outside the home.Check if your state requires air duct cleaning licensure and if so, have the company provide proof of licensure Low Temperature hoses suppliers– as well as proof of insurance – before you hire.

The vote on another recommendation passed

After the meeting, Herring confirmed that the district has been given the go-ahead by the Ohio School Facilities Commission to keep Westgate, which was actually slated for demolition as part of the district's building improvement project. He said, however, that no money will be provided by the state to maintain or repair the building.Treasurer Todd Puster agreed there are two other options through the state the district could explore for repairing the boilers, an emergency program and HB 264 for projects that demonstrate energy conservation.

Wolf said the district "has an obligation" to approach the state to determine if either of those options are workable. In other facility-related matters, consultant Sam Sowards reported on the status of the Patterson Field improvement project, saying most of the work and inspections are complete, with a few items still to be addressed, such as tile on the shower floors, gutters and sealing the HVAC.The new restrooms will be used this week for the junior high football game and the entire project will be ready for use during the Sept. 6 varsity game, according to Herring.

The vote on another recommendation passed, but with both Martin and board member Scott Dieringer voting against a contract with the county Educational Service Center (ESC), which had been tabled at the last meeting when questions arose about possible duplication of supervisory services. When asked Monday what he had learned about the services since then, Herring said part of those include professional development of staff members and support services, such as representatives who work at the elementary buildings.Asked if the district couldn't check with other counties' ESCs to compare services and costs, Herring said that could be done for next year, prompting Martin to ask why it had to wait until then, saying, "We're talking about $190,000 the cost of the proposed contract."
