The Loose Tube Flying Lead Assembly offers the flexibility to utilize any OEM’s J-plates, the ability to transfer the finger load, which lightens the flying lead and gives the tubes more compliance at the couplers, higher axial strength, UV protection provided by the outer hose and integration of the outer hose into the bend limiters, providing the Moray increased rotational compliance. As it can be difficult to install separate steel and optical flying leads in these lengths, Deep Down can combine these components in Electrical/Optical – Loose Steel Flying leads (EO-LSFLs) where the electrical and optical components are inside a steel tube up to 6,000 feet in length.
Ron Smith, Chief Executive Officer stated, “This patent follows on from Deep Down’s previous patent for the manufacture of a non-helical subsea umbilical, which is a fully transportable system that requires less time and equipment than typical construction techniques. These patents demonstrate our ongoing commitment to develop new technologies in response to the increasing specialized needs of our customers. We are pleased to offer a design that eases the installation of the umbilical and improves the overall efficiency of the subsea distribution system.”
Deep Down, Inc. is an oilfield services company serving the worldwide offshore exploration and production industry. Deep Down's proven services and technological solutions include distribution system installation support and engineering services, umbilical terminations, loose-tube steel flying leads, buoyant solutions, ROVs and tooling, marine vessel automation, control, and ballast systems. Emergency Marine Hose Repair
Successful use of marine repair tape – There are many different kinds of repair products on the market ranging from putty to epoxy to various kinds of tape. Which one do you need? Well, I’ve been a boater for 20 years and I guess you could call me a serial boat mechanic. I’ve tried everything. That’s why I was so excited to try Rescue Tape. I bought the product at a boat show and thought to myself “I hope I never need this” and then I basically forgot about it.
And then it happened. You know what I’m talking about. I heard that unfriendly sound of water spurting inside the boat. I quickly traced the problem to a cracked bilge line. About half of the water was coming right back into the boat. Darn, time to bring out the Rescue Tape! Following the instructions, Then I followed the instructions carefully; I separated the liner from the stretchy tape as I wrapped, stretched the heck out of the tape and wrapped it continuously around the hose back and forth over the hole until I had used about half of the roll of tape.
Truthfully, Preparing Your Vessel for a Marine Survey.all I was hoping for was a temporary repair until I could get back to shore and replace the bilge hose. But I have to admit, it’s been almost 2 years and the stuff is still on there! It never failed that whole time. Rescue Tape saved me some money from not having to buy new hose, and, more importantly it saved me from spending a few hours running to the boat store and making the repair. Add this to the list of core products that this gearhead can’t live without.

Preparing Your Vessel for a Marine Survey
Marine surveyors look for a spotless, well maintained yacht; it sets the mood for this inspection. I've had more than several surveyors inform me that they are able to usually know what they're going to find out by how a vessel appears to be like on the dock. A surveyor is likely to locate those things that don't work and notify the purchaser. If it doesn't work, any potential buyer will presume the worst and almost certainly want an allowance for new equipment. It really is much simpler and cheaper to repair all equipment before surveying the yacht than to pay for having it done later.
In addition, as soon as your vessel is surveyed by a probable buyer, if everything functions, your transaction is just about guaranteed. Then again, a long inventory of non-operable things can often cause a buyer to get second thoughts and then the most you are able to hope for is a far reduced sales price simply not to lose the deal! Subsequently, make certain the vessel is tify and free of trash. Do away with everything not a part of the transaction, both to enhance perceived boat space and to get rid of any uncertainty as to what is a part of the transaction.
Extra tools, aged fenders, filthy lines, that pail of washing chemicals within the lazarette… do away with it all. It will get in the way of the surveyor doing his job.To begin with, non-functioning equipment problems could be a red flag for the buyer. If a head doesn't work satisfactorily, a doorknob is wobbly, or something else is not right, repair or replace it. You'll likely take care of most of those concerns yourself, and a little amount of additional sweat can yield great profit when the surveyor indicates to the purchaser he has discovered nothing wrong with the vessel.

Advantages of the PTFE Race Hose
Because of its unique construction and attributes, the benefits of the PTFE are many. It has a wide operating temperature range and can withstand temperatures from -73 degrees C to +260 degrees C. It has a vast chemical compatibility, meaning the hose can withstand a variety of fluids at extreme temperatures and pressure levels.PTFE custom are very flexible and strong. When combined with a stainless steel braid, these hoses can out-perform other hoses under high-pressure conditions, even when there is continuous vibration and flexing. PTFE race hoses can hold their own during hundreds of thousands of flex cycles without failure.
They are non-stick with low friction to prevent substances from adhering to the interior walls of the hose. This allows fluids to maintain their purity while flowing through the hose and it allows the alternate use of varied fluids in the same hose without risk of fluid mixture.PTFE is moisture-resistant so it does not absorb fluids as they pass through. It adds no taste, odor, or color to the fluids. That's why PTFE has been FDA-approved for use in the food industry as well. Another advantage is PTFE race hoses are built to last. When properly installed, they are not affected by exposure to chemicals, weather elements, or time.
They are resistant to UV light and oxidation, discoloration, and surface fouling. They are essentially ageless when well taken care of. PTFE hoses are also lightweight, which helps reduce the overall racecar weight for improved racing performance. With so many benefits, it's no wonder many manufacturers are producing PTFE hoses today. Good ridge, for example, produces various types of PTFE race hoses, including smooth or convoluted hoses, hoses with stainless steel braiding or an Aramid Fibre outer braid, and races hoses of various sizes and shapes. Besides hoses, there are numerous hose fittings such as AN fittings and other racing products to meet the needs of every racecar machine shop.
